The Mount Holly Community Awards Committee (MHCAC) is seeking nominations for the 2026 Terrell Jonas Unsung Hero Award. Nominations for this award, named after its first recipient, will be reviewed and a winner selected by a panel of judges named by the MHCAC. This group will use the criteria listed below in naming the 2026 Terrell Jonas Unsung Hero and the award will be announced at the annual Mount Holly Community Dinner on April 30th.

Purpose of the Terrell Jonas Unsung Hero Award

The Terrell Jonas Unsung Hero Award recipient/recipients portray a selfless contribution of service to the Mount Holly community. They demonstrate a quiet spirit as they identify and carry out personal objectives to assist in service with a positive outcome, never expecting recognition or reward. They are the neighbor that shows up unexpectedly; the citizen that engages quietly to accomplish a task. They are the example of joy in the midst of chaos. Their actions may not make headlines but they ripple through the community strengthening connections, providing comfort, and inspiring hope.

Criteria for Selection of the Terrell Jonas Unsung Hero Award

1. The actions of the Unsung Hero should have had an impact on the greater Mount Holly community – although the individual may not live within the city limits of Mount Holly.

2. The efforts of the Unsung Hero should lead to the betterment of others and the community.

3. The Unsung Hero should be an individual who exhibits humility – they do not seek recognition, fame, or praise for their efforts.

4. The Unsung Hero’s actions are carried out without financial compensation.

5. The impact of the Unsung Hero is not a one-time event, but a consistent pattern of behavior over time.

6. The Unsung Hero demonstrates strong moral principles, compassion, honesty, and kindness in their life.

7. The contributions of the Unsung Hero are often subtle and go unnoticed by others.

Instructions for Submitting a Nomination

1. All nominations submitted must use the Nomination Form attached to this announcement.

2. Self-nominations will not be accepted.

3. No attachments will be accepted (letters of support, resumes, etc.).

4. While there is no limit in the length of the information requested on nominees, conciseness is appreciated.

5. Nominations will be accepted beginning on February 1, 2026 and must be received NO LATER THAN March 16, 2026.

• Please provide all information completely and clearly. Incomplete forms will not be considered.

• Submit all materials by the deadline of March 16, 2026.
